Safety Switches in Geelong and Surf Coast Homes
Make your Geelong and Surf Coast family home safer by upgrading your switchboard with new safety switches (RCD Protection). New changes to the wiring rules has made it mandatory to have safety switches installed when upgrading any wiring in your home (except additional new work to existing lighting circuits).
The new edition of AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules Standard (Electrical Installations) was published on 26 June 2018. A transition period has been in place allowing the use of both the 2007 and 2018 versions until 1 January 2019. This period has now ended, and all electrical installation work done beyond this point must comply with the new wiring rules.
The new version contains many changes to the AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules Standard (Electrical Installations), mandatory RCD protection is one of the changes. If you make any new installations, alteration and renovation to a residential property we are mandated to upgrade the RCD circuit. You can choose to only upgrade the RCD circuit that the electrician is completing the work on, however this can become a very expensive process. Upgrading the whole switch board will save you from any on-going costs.
Another positive of upgrading the switch board is also that you to rest easy knowing that your family is safe and any works done beyond the installation date comply with Australian Standard and there will be no on-going cost to your switchboard when new electrical jobs pop up.
